Product Description

The Spud Inc. Magic Carpet Sled is a heavy-duty weight sled designed for maximum versatility and portability. At less than 4LB, it's considerably lighter than a traditional metal dragging sled, but gives up nothing in weight capacity—able to take on more than 600LB in steel plates. Use the Magic Carpet Sled on grass, Astroturf, carpet, or in any gym or training space with rubber or tile flooring. If it's a non-abrasive surface, you're good to go.

Go where most sleds cannot!

The Spud Inc. Magic Carpet Sled is a heavy-duty weight sled designed for maximum versatility and portability. When your weighted sled training is complete, simply roll up the Magic Carpet Sled and drop it back in your gym bag. For athletes at any level, this is a convenient, effective way to build the posterior chain and metabolic conditioning with one movement.

Approved for the new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)

The Magic Carpet Sled + Upper Body Sled Strap - Black has been officially approved for use with the United States Army’s Combat Fitness Test, a 6-event readiness assessment that’s replacing the previous 3-event Army Physical Fitness Test in 2020. The grueling new ACFT is neutral across all genders and age groups, and includes a strength deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-ups, sprint/drag/carry, leg tuck, and a 2-mile run.

Important: The Magic Carpet Sled should not be used on concrete, asphalt, or any rough textured surface. Speed sled training on such surfaces can cause irreparable damage to the sled.

Arguably the best item you can carry in your gym bag
I have the Butcher and a Sorinex Reversa steel sled so I pretty much have my bases covered in terms of sleds except when I am traveling, there is snow on the ground, or I want to work out in my company gym. Enter the magic carpet sled. It works exactly as advertised and the use of a strap to tie down weights rather than a pole as on most steel sleds means you can get more creative in terms of loading e.g. I have used it with 45-lb plates, dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags and children. Aside from the terrific portability, I think it's other key advantage is that one can use it in any public park or public space or gym and it will raise far less concern that you are ripping apart the grass (or carpet) than a substantial steel sled. It is just a large broad square of fabric and even with a lot of weight on it, it just looks more innocuous than a 40 lb cast iron sled. I can't really think of any significant ways to improve it. The sled shows cosmetic wear even after the first round of dragging (black color wears off quickly) on grass. But it had no significant functional wear. I think for many people it could well be the only sled they need unless they plan to drag on concrete or asphalt or gravel. Perhaps if it came with a 20ft drag strap for the same price - I might consider it a great deal.

Just O.K.
We purchased a magic carpet for outdoor (grass) workouts. Our experience with the carpet is that it's just ok but definitely not great. The belt system doesn't hold the plates securely, which results in the plates shifting and ultimately hanging off of the sled during workouts. I also feel like we could have built something similar for much less money.
