Heavy Gauge American Steel and Hardware
1

Heavy Gauge American Steel and Hardware

The SML-2 is manufactured in the USA, using (2) heavy-duty 11-gauge 3x3" square laser-cut steel uprights and (3) 2x3” 11-gauge steel base tubes for optimal stability. The unit includes laser-cut 5/8" diameter holes and SAE grade 5 bolt hardware. The finish is our signature black powdercoat.

Versatility & Space Efficiency
2

Versatility & Space Efficiency

While it’s called a squat stand, the 90” SML-2 can be used much like a full-scale power rack, from bench work to pull-ups, clean pulls, floor press, and more. The unit has a weight capacity of 1,000 LBS, but creates just a 49" x 48" footprint in your gym, making it a space efficient option that gives up little in functionality.

Fit, Finish & Warranty
3

Fit, Finish & Warranty

Every weld and laser-cut at Rogue is inspected individually at each step of the process for integrity and appearance. Every part is again individually inspected for finish after the powder coat process. The entire package receives a final comprehensive quality assurance check before it’s shipped. Once in use, the SML-2 is guaranteed by Rogue for Life.

Part 1: Arrival and Assembly
I am going to do a 2 part review and this first part is going to be focused on the setup of the product. The squat stand came in 8 or 9 different boxes via ups. The product shipped quick and arrived 2 days later. The packaging was well done and was quick to do. The squat stand itself was a piece-of-cake to setup...it took maybe 35 minutes (only because i didn't have a socket wrench available to tighten the bolts quicker). The stand is absolutely rock solid and didn't budget one bit while doing a pull up. The steels is rigid and very well made. I followed advice in a yt video on Rogue's channel to a smililar s-2 stand for the bolts and keeping them lose until it was all set up helped ensure that it was 100% stable upon tightening. part 2 will come after I have done a few workouts using the stand.

Perfect
When I started shopping Rogue rigs, I was very skeptical about all the 5-star reviews. Seemed sketchy to me that almost no one ever leaves sub-4-star reviews about Rogue products. But I did my due diligence and was soon convinced that this stuff was legit. I was shipping the thing overseas, so it was imperative that everything arrived in a timely and orderly fashion. As soon as I got my order and peeked inside the boxes, I knew this stuff was everything it was supposed to be and more. Shipping was very fast (less than 4 days, I believe) there were no missing parts, nothing was damaged. I resealed the boxes and threw them on a shipping container. I was moving to the Dominican Republic and had only a 7'3" x 7'"10 room in which to set up my gym. Footprint was a major selling point and this thing came in at just the right size. With a six foot bar, I have just enough room to do everything I need to do. I'm sure it would be nice to have a full squat stand, but on the other hand, even with a larger room I would love the freedom and openness of this rig. Sure, maybe you have more room to do squats in a full-sized rig, but the safety arms on this bad boy are plenty long enough to spot you on a failed squat. The American steel this stuff is made cannot be beaten. It is rock solid and there are zero stability issues for squats and pullups. Even with shipping included, this was the absolute best product I could find for the price. I researched just about every stand available in the $400-$800 range and this is THE best, IMHO.

Amazing product and even better pricing.
Ok first review didn't post about a month ago, so here is an updated and shortened one. I got this about 4 days after it was shipped. Actual shipping costs were reasonable, especially since I ordered a decent amount of bumper plates with this stand. UPS dropped off the two pallets I ordered, but this comes on one long pallet balanced on a normal sized pallet. It isn't wrapped very well at all, but nowhere near as bad as the bumper plates were wrapped. Those came muddy and dusty (not that I care, just stating for reference). This came fine other than the fat/skinny pull-up bar being slightly damaged, as well as the rack. It's just the paint on two corners and a nick where you might place your hand for a wide pull-up, but it is felt. The rack has a larger gouge missing on the upright 3x3 section (about the size of a pinky, 1-2 pennies deep). One bolt didn't line up correctly either with the pull-up bar, but it was fixed in a few minutes time. The rack isn't fully compatible with the Monster Lite Spotter Arms I ordered either. They work and are beefy, not doubt about that... but the hole spacing on this rack doesn't always allow for the bottom pin to be inserted at times. Problem? Not really, just something I noticed immediately. The arms can only be placed so far down (sorry, no rack pulls at or below knee for taller people (I'm 6'0")) since they are limited by the two plates holding the squat rack upright pieces together. No numbers to indicate which hole you are on, but that isn't an issue with the stand. It's advertised that way and can easily be marked with a silver Sharpe, colored paint/stickers/magnets, etc. So that's what I don't like about the rack, and it's mostly trivial. It still works and does what it is supposed to. It's beefy, easy to build, stable, super easy to build, priced right, looks great, and only has 3 steps to build it so it's super easy! Does not include wrenches, but includes all hardware. If you are thinking about any squat rack (which can really be used for so, so much more), this one is a great option. The pictures are said to not do it justice, but they do. It is just as nice in picture or person. It's the spotter arms that don't get justice from pictures, those things are worth the, almost, $200. They have already saved me on bench presses. Overall 4.5/5 for the issues it came with. Just because it's USA made doesn't mean it's perfect, but it sure is close for the money.

Solid product! American made!
Easy assembly. This thing is built like a brick outhouse. Easily holds an enormous amount of weight and does not budge while doing any kind of pull-up! I do strict, kidding and butterfly pull-ups without this thing swaying or budging. I hang rings on it and do dips, and ring handstand push-ups with confidence! The price is relatively cheap for the incredible quality of this product. American made by our boys over in Columbus, OH. Delivered incredibly quick within 3 days right to my door. Anybody looking to put together a quality garage gym should purchase this squat stand and pull-up bar attachment. Rogue makes a great product. I don't buy anything else.

Perfect
Needed something I could use in Garage gym for safely Squatting and Benching without bolting down and that fit within limited space(I fit this in with both cars in a two car garage) and this works perfectly, I added Spotter arms, Matador Dip bar, Landmine unit and did dual 1.25" Pull in up bars so i could use the Neutral grips, Exceeded all my expectations for Quality of Product and customer service. Added bonus of being extremely easy to put together I can barely put up a shelf and I did this alone in less than 40 minutes.

Strength in Simplicity
1) Shipping. I ordered the rig on Sunday night, it arrived Tuesday afternoon. There was only one option for shipping and the cost was more than fair for 3 or 4 days let alone 2. 2) Packaging. Straight forward, logically separated, well packed and easy to open. 3) Assembly. As an automotive engineer I am very cognizant of manufacturing quality and ease of assembly. The most mind-bogglingly clever thing about this is the fact that 16 fasteners are required to hold this beast together. All 16 fastener assemblies (bolt, washer, lock washer and nut) were identical. This thing is the exact opposite of Ikea furniture. Assembly took roughly 40 minutes and required a 15/16's socket and adjustable wrench. I photo documented the whole process and my 3 year old helped. Had I been purely focused on the task at hand it probably would have taken 20 minutes. Complex does not mean robust. 4) Quality is astounding. Beautiful welds, perfect fit and finish. 5) The useful part of this review: a) I placed the SML-2 on a raised pad in my garage. The pad is 5'x10' with a 93" ceiling. I am extremely impressed that after measuring the ceiling a hundred times the SML-2 is, in fact, exactly 92" tall. b) I am 5'8" with short arms. I find the fat/skinny bar to be the perfect height. I can reach on my tip toes but am able to dead hang. With a 93" ceiling my head still has a few inches clearance at the top of a pull up. 6) Lastly. This thing is cool. It is a conversation piece, it is intimidating, it is beautiful. Make room for this in your garage and impress your friends.

All quality from order to delivery
There is no comparing Rogue Fitness equipment to the Chinese made stuff you see everywhere else. My squat stand was shipped within hours of ordering and it arrived at my UPS facility within 2 days. Unfortunately, a snow storm prevented delivery, so I had to wait an extra day. It was well worth the wait and as others have noted in their reviews of Rogue equipment, it far exceeded my expectation. My 5 year old twin girls helped me put it together (Note, that is how easy it is to put together). Every bolt and nut fall right into place and there is no need to fumble around with anything. All 7 boxes arrived clearly labeled. I ordered the spotter arms and wheels for my 90" stand. This stand is certainly is built like a monster and I'm sure if my house was to collapse, the only thing left standing would be this stand. The spotter arms are massive and I don't believe I will ever throw anything at that it cannot handle. I am a former weight lifter turned runner, so I am not pushing around massive amount of weight. But, safety is critical for me and I feel extremely safe using this stand. I use it for squats, all types of presses (chest and delts), calf raises, deadliest, rows, etc. You can quickly see it is more than just a squat stand. BTW, I'm 5'7" and weigh 145 lbs, so pull-ups are great and the stand does not move at all while using the pull-up bar. I ordered the fat/skinny bar and I probably won't be using the fat side any time soon, so I have the skinny bar closest to the ground and it's at a perfect height. I don't have to use any assistance or jump to grab onto the bar. My only gripe is not having the holes numbered. I know I could have ordered the Monster series with numbers, but those accessories are little pricey.
