Bolt-Together Design

Rather than using fully-welded side panels, which can create some shipping and portability challenges for some gyms, the Rogue Bolt-Together R-3 gives customers an alternative option for adding a top-tier American-made power rack to their training space. The R-3BT can be shipped efficiently to an APO address, transported by component around tight corners and staircases, and set up easily using the provided instructions and hardware.

Small Footprint

Small Footprint

As the most compact member of the R-Series, this unit fits easily into most home gyms and garage gyms, or into a tight corner of a larger training facility. The standard construction stands 7’6” tall with an inside depth of 24” and a total footprint of just 53” x 34”. Customers can also select an alternative version with an increased depth of 30” for a small price difference.

Great rack
The first thing I noticed when I unboxed this rack was that it was heavier than I expected--a good thing for a rack. Assembly was straight forward and I completed it in less than 2 hours with only a couple wrenches. I did add the multigrip crossmember and moved the included pullup bar to the back to act as a stabilizer. It really does need to be bolted down, even with the additional crossmember. I built a plywood platform and bolted it to that and it's very solid. At 235lbs I can do pullups and it barely moves. You really can't overemphasize the importance of the hole spacing, especially in the bench area. In other racks it's always a pain to get it adjusted just right and it seems I'm always hitting the safety bar or it's too low to act as a real safety. Having used this rack with the close spacing i will never buy another rack without it. Of course, I doubt I'll ever need another rack with this thing. One minor complaint. The bases of the vertical supports (the ones you bolt down to the floor) are not all the same. The measurements are slightly different so it's important to match them up when assembling. The instructions make no mention of this (maybe it's a production error?) and the differences were small enough I didn't notice. After I bolted it down, though, I realized the bases were not in line exactly. I went back and measured and saw the differences. It's a purely cosmetic issue and doesn't impact the rack in any way, but being OCD a bit seeing the mismatch bothers me. Maybe one day I'll take it apart and reorient the bases so they all match. Or maybe not. Either way, overall an excellent rack I would buy again.

Solid when bolted to a platform, amazing customer service!
I searched and searched for racks that were good for garage gyms and homemade platforms. I reviewed numerous Crossfit and Bodybuilding forums online and found Rogue to have the best reviews for both products and customer service. I normally do not write reviews like this, but Rogue has lived up to their stellar reputation and then some. I bought my 30” bolted R-3 rack back in November 2012 during the Matte Black Friday sale, along with a Rogue Bar and numerous accessories and attachments and I had everything within a week (mind you this was during a massive sale, and they still had the best shipping times I have ever seen)! I asked a ton of questions about bolting the rack to a platform before buying the rack and they responded promptly and gave references to others who have done the same, which was enough for me to make the commitment to buy it. I had the rack for three months before I bolted it down because I did not have a bench yet and wanted to have the proper spacing according to my bench placement. Even when this rack was not bolted down (which Rogues recommends that it is bolted down) it was pretty solid when I did any kind of pull-ups, ring work, or Matador work, because it is such heavy-duty stuff. I know the racks are bomb proof when bolted to concrete just from reviews and a friend who owns a Crossfit box who can attest, but anybody thinking about bolting a Rogue rack to a platform, do it! I have two bolts on each foot going through three sheets of 3/4" plywood and then the outside bolts going though one layer of 3/4" stall mats then two 3/4" sheets of plywood and it is solid. Strict and kipping pull-ups, ring and weighted matador dips, toes to bar, knee and leg raises, you name it, the thing does not budge! Do not waste your money on cheaper alternatives, you get what you pay for! You will understand once you buy their stuff, because it is built to last... and it will last a lot longer than you ever will! If you are not a believer because of me, search the Internet, it is hard to find a bad review about Rogue for anything!

Everything Expected
This thing is so over built it is incredible. My Wife and I are familiar with these from our box so when I sold our old squat rack and was looking at a rouge s-2 she said just get the one you really want. I got R-3 the bolt together because I have low ceilings in my garage and wanted to lower the pull-up bar a couple of holes. I was not disappointed. Easy assembly. Everything fit perfect. Great quality control there at Rouge. I surprised my wife with a Bella Bar. I have never seen her so excited about getting new equipment. She felt very comfortable with it "because it was just like at the gym." Don't forget to add anchors to your order.

Excellent R-3 Option
Ordered the 30" bolt-together option for the R-3. Shipping was crazy fast, and the separate boxes made unloading a breeze. Put the rack together yesterday with the help of my son. Installation was much easier than anticipated. I'm looking forward to my first workout tomorrow night. The concrete wedge bolts (sold by Rogue) make bolting the rack to the floor a breeze. One quick note. The 5/8 " bolts take a 15/16" wrench and/or socket.
